When was Lister Petter Founded?

Lister Petter originally started as two separate businesses, called Lister and Petter.

The first business to be founded was Petter in 1865 in the town of Yeovil, Somerset, by Ernest, and Percy Petter. Two years later Lister was founded 80 miles away in Dursley, Gloucestershire by Robert Lister and their main product which was manufactured was agricultural equipment.

It wasn’t until over 100 years later, in 1986, when the companies merged together due to both companies being purchased by Hawker Siddeley.
